In a “poetic journey into the world of Cavafy,” The Greek Cultural Center of Cairo and the Greek Community Association “Hephaestus Wien –Österreichisch / Greek Integration Association invite you to their online event themed:
“Cavafy, Global Beacon of Culture”
The purpose of the event is to remind us of the universality of the poetry of Alexandrian Konstantinos P. Cavafy and his work as an inexhaustible field of research. From his universe, citizens from four continents come together to illuminate his poetry globally and be illuminated by it.
Two great Greek artists will accompany this effort.
Alkistis Protopsalti will recite the poem “God Abandoning Antony,” the first song she performed in her career.
Dimitris Kataleifos will recite the poem “The Satrapy” and will speak about the film “Cavafy”, the acclaimed work of G. Smaragdis, in which he embodied the poet.

Andy El Arabi, a graduate of Modern Greek Studies from Cairo University.
Christina Tsardikou, President of the Greek cultural organization Nostos of Argentina and President of the Union of Greek Writers of the Five Continents.
Eugenia Kotanidi, President of the Federation of Greek Communities of Georgia.
Angela Bratsou, representative of the Union of Greeks in Romania.
Nikos Ouzounoglou, President of the World Federation of Constantinopolitans.
Tigran Sarkisian, representative of the Online Group “Armenians and Friends of Armenians.”
Additionally, actors Ino Matzou and Eri Bakali will recite poems by Cavafy, as well as Myrto Zaragka, a student from Sorbonne.
